Careers Wales works closely with Ysgol Gyfun Tredegar Comprehensive School at key transition points for pupils in the school.
During Year 8 Careers Wales attend the Schools Year 8 GCSE options evening where the careers adviser offers support to parents and their child in choosing GCSE option subjects and their relation to their child’s future career aspirations. Individual support is also offered to Year 8 pupils who feel they may require one to one support.
During KS4 Year 10 students complete an online survey which once completed informs the school careers adviser of the level of support each student requires, ranging from one to one support in the form of a careers guidance interview in Years 10 and 11, to small group sessions, digital interactions etc. The careers adviser will also attend the Year 11 parent evening to offer support at this key transition point of their child’s education. Careers Wales has a keeping in touch strategy with each student in Year 10 and 11 and regularly texts and Emails these young people, regarding their plans for the future.
All the work Careers Wales delivers in partnership with Ysgol Gyfun Tredegar Comprehensive School is negotiated via a Partnership Agreement meeting with senior management at the school, as well as management and the careers adviser from Careers Wales. When finalised and agreed the Partnership Agreement will contain what will be delivered in the school across the academic year by Careers Wales.
The careers adviser linked to Ysgol Gyfun Tredegar Comprehensive School is currently Mr. Nigel Skym.
