LGBTQ and Diversity
Tredegar Comprehensive School is an inclusive school where everyone is valued. We aim to promote a sense of community with tolerance and respect for others and the right not to be discriminated against (Article 3, UNCRC) is recognised and respected.
Our School is committed to anti-discriminatory practice, to promote equality of opportunity and valuing diversity for all staff, students and families regardless of their race, gender, age, disability, religion or sexual orientation.
We are committed to the Welsh Government’s vision for Wales to become anti-racist by 2030.
Representation
Throughout the school we aim to represent a diverse range of role models and provide pupils with an inclusive curriculum. As part of the Curriculum for Wales, we include the histories and stories of Black, Asian and Ethnic Minorities and the contributions that they have made to Wales.
Celebration
Throughout the year we celebrate the diversity of Wales. We celebrate:
Black History Cymru 365
Disability History Month
LGBTQ History Month
Pride
Trans Awareness Day
Anti-bullying week
Show Racism the Red Card
Odd Socks Day
School Diversity Week
Inclusion
We run an LGBTQ+ club to support our pupils.
We also run trips and host workshops with a focus on promoting Diversity and Equality.
We are working closely with DARPL and Stonewall to ensure that we provide an inclusive and equitable education for all our pupils. We are also working towards gaining The Allegiance Award.
