A Visit from The Minister for Education

On Wednesday, October 2nd, we had the pleasure of welcoming Kirsty Williams, Minister for Education and Alun Davies, our AM. The Minister engaged in a Q & A session with our school council discussing issues such as mental health and wellbeing, as well as undertaking a tour to experience the excellent learning and teaching happening at our school.

This school is a brilliant example of how they are using our Pupil Development Grant to really raise the aspirations and deliver for students. It has been inspirational to talk to the youngsters and teachers. What's also really impressive about Tredegar is their commitment to training their staff. We know that no education system can exceed the quality of the teachers that work with children and here in Tredegar they're investing in their teaching staff and by doing that, they're investing in kids. Kirsty Williams, Minister for Education

This is my old school of course, so I am delighted that Kirsty has been able to visit us here and it's fantastic to hear from Wales' Education Minister just how well the school is doing. So I think we should all say 'well done' to the staff and pupils of Tredegar Comprehensive. Alun Davies, AM
