Forest Schools

Our Forest School provides children with an outdoor, nature-based learning environment that fosters curiosity, creativity, and confidence. The benefits of which Builds resilience and problem-solving skills; Encourages physical activity and outdoor exploration; Promotes emotional well-being and a connection with nature. Activities include den building; nature crafts; wildlife observation; campfire and cooking. All of which are led by our expert and very experienced forest schools leader Mr Roles.

 Duke of Edinburgh Award

Challenge yourself, discover Your potential - join the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award! The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a globally recognised program that empowers young people to develop skills, engage with their communities and experience personal growth through adventure and challenge. The school offers Bronze and Silver awards in Year 10 and 11, which includes time dedicated towards volunteering; a physical activity; developing a skill and the expedition, led by our expedition leader Mr Roles. The DofE develops new skills; builds confidence and resilience; gains valuable experiences for university applications or CVs and you make lasting friendships and memories.

In recognition of outdoor learning in all year groups, at Ysgol Gyfun Tredegar Comprehensive School, we believe the best classrooms don’t always have walls! We are thrilled to have our bespoke Outdoor Learning Award, an award that acknowledges pupil's contributions and experiences of outdoor learning.

This exciting initiative encourages our students to:
